Principal Mechanical Engineer

The business are a boutique building services consultancy based in London, renowned for their commitment to developing innovative, sustainable solutions for buildings in and around the city as a trusted contractor partner, they work closely with their clients throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial design to practical completion.
Role Overview : As the Principal Mechanical Engineer,
you will lead the technical discipline across multiple projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, energy-efficient, and sustainable building solutions.
You will mentor and guide junior engineers, while also engaging in hands-on design work. This role demands excellent communication skills, as you will liaise with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead mechanical engineering projects from initial concept through to practical completion.
- Develop and implement low-energy and sustainable building solutions.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional growth.
- Engage in design work, ensuring technical excellence and innovation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Oversee project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements :
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in building services consultancy.
- Proven track record in leading mechanical engineering projects, particularly in the context of sustainable and low-energy solutions.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with various stakeholders.
- Hands-on design experience, with a focus on technical excellence.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent professional recognition is highly desirable.
