Job description

The Amazon Security, Special Programs Evaluations Assessments & Response (SPEAR) Team is seeking an experienced and talented physical security Evaluator to join the SPEAR Evaluations EMEA Non-Traditional Environment Team.

This position is responsible for performing physical security evaluations of our facilities in the EMEA region. You will join a cadre of experienced and skilled specialists responsible for evaluating the application of physical security, including people, processes and technology.

You will identify and document vulnerabilities, provide guidance on the path to resolution, and are responsible for all written reports related to the evaluations you conduct.

You will participate in the development, analysis,





and implementation of physical security standards and identify areas for improvement.

As a SPEAR Evaluator, you will partner and work directly with other Amazon Physical Security Teams, Amazon Management, and customers to aid in the real-world application of physical security to existing and new facilities.

You will also review new and cutting-edge technology and security measures for possible application to the existing suite of security processes and measures to enhance the security posture of our facilities.

Must be able to work at all levels from the theoretical knowledge of physical security protection systems and principles, to the practical application and real-world implementation of processes and measures.

The Physical Security Industry Specialist must execute detailed evaluations of our existing facilities, identifying areas which can be improved to enhance the physical security posture of each site.







Evaluations are conducted in person on Amazon properties around the globe and require you to travel up to 50% of the time.

You will work in environments where you may be exposed to loud noises, cold, heat, adverse weather, and on elevated structures.

Must be able to climb ladders and work with diagnostic tools, and utilize hand tools to inspect equipment at elevated heights.

Must conduct inspections of extensive open spaces and fence lines that include walking significant distances, both during day and night time hours, and stand for significant periods of time.

Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, eye protection, impact resistant head protection, safety footwear, high visibility clothing, cut resistant gloves, and other PPE as required by local ordinance or regulation.







Key job responsibilities

- Organize and lead the execution of evaluations of facilities within the EMEA Region. Ensure all vulnerabilities identified as part of this evaluation process are documented and all evaluation related documentation is completed within the required parameters.
- Partner directly with Amazon Security partners to review security related documentation and help them understand the implementation of all physical security standards and policies to their real-world environment.
- Develop and review new and cutting-edge technology and security measures for possible application to the existing suite of security processes and measures to enhance the security posture of our facilities.






- Assist the global SPEAR Team determine the strategic direction of the Physical Security Program based on customer interaction and demonstrative outputs.
- Keep the leadership team fully informed of stakeholder and customer engagement status, issues, and activities.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and events. Develop and maintain connections with key industry personnel and manufacturers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience applying Physical Security Principles, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Video Surveillance and Management System principals and concepts.
- Experience working with high performing operationally focused personnel.
- Experience collaborating with both internal and external partner agencies / entities to achieve organizational goals.
- Experience conducting physical security assessments, inspections, evaluations of people, processes and / or measures including access control / intrusion detection and video surveillance systems.






- Experience of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
- Ability to travel up to 50% of your working time across the region and globally.
- Ability to successfully perform key job functions in a physically demanding work environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in the detailed planning and implementation of physical security solutions designed to protect critical assets, and support the application of physical security across people, processes and measures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physical security industry standards and best practices, to include but not limited to application of physical security, access control systems, familiarity with contract security guard requirements, and incident response.
- Applicable physical security industry specific qualifications, certifications, and or education. Basic understanding of cloud computing services.
- Experience and high proficiency in public speaking and briefing. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate basic, technical and / or complex security issues, concepts, and solutions with both security and non-security professionals, across all levels of management.
- Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects.
- Ability to handle confidential information with care. Ability to integrate into an international work environment.
