Job description
PURPOSE OF ROLE :
- As part of our strategy of continued growth, we are looking for an Associate and Managing Associate to join the Leeds Corporate Finance team and help support the ever - growing roster of Finance clients.
- You will be working closely with Andrew Fordham who is the head of the Corporate Finance team in Leeds, acting for a wide variety of banks and financial institutions, other lenders, sponsors and private and public corporates.
- Addleshaw Goddard's finance practice is known for its quality and breadth of expertise. As one of the most established multi-disciplinary teams of any law firm, we give clients the confidence they need to succeed.
THE TEAM :
- As part of the Finance & Projects Group,
our Corporate Finance is a national team with significant resource in each of our offices in Leeds, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, , and, as well as in our overseas offices.
- The team acts for a wide variety of banks and financial institutions, as well as many of the Firm's corporate and property clients on financing transactions.
- Our finance practice is diverse, reflecting the full product offering of our largest lender clients. We are looking for an Associate and a Managing Associate to work on a variety of financing matters and as a minimum, you can expect to gain experience in a broad range transactional finance including leveraged finance, real estate finance, corporate debt, infrastructure and asset-based lending.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE ROLE :
- You will advise and act as the core panel for all UK clearing banks and have exposure to large and high-profile local, UK and international transactions.
- As well as the lender-side work,
you will also regularly assist corporate borrowers on high value, high profile and often complex transactions.
- Working closely with existing clients to maintain and develop relationships, acting as a trusted advisor capable of providing timely and quality advice whilst managing expectations.
- This is a high performing, cohesive and busy team with a strong reputation for providing Associates / Managing Associates with strong levels of responsibility within a supportive and stretching environment and therefore you can expect to take a leading role on most matters.
- Continuous development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programmes (whether technical or skills based) and to draw on mentoring, coaching and leadership development programmes available to you.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :
- Have at least 2years PQE + experience within Finance, Real Estate Finance, Acquisition / Leverage Finance or Asset Based Lending.
- Have enthusiasm, resilience, and ambition to find solutions to clients' legal challenges and requirements.
- Be experienced in engaging with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
- Adopt a consultative and thorough approach to tasks.
- Maintain efficient diary and task management across a range matters, ensuring the accuracy and levels of client service expected within a high performing team.
- Be confident in drafting clear and legally effective documents, which reflect the client's instructions.
- Remain calm and optimistic (but realistic)
in time sensitive situations or under pressure.
