The Role
The role of the Senior Adviser is to act as the corporate governance expert in residence to the IoD Centre for Corporate Governance for a period of 12 months.
During this time, the Senior Adviser will deliver two major pieces of thought leadership on corporate governance, including a state of the nation report on current UK corporate governance developments.
The Senior Adviser will also coordinate the meetings and feedback of the Centre’s Advisory Board and will be involved in IoD events and social media activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing thought leadership on corporate governance and related issues.
- Meeting with internal and external experts and practitioners from the corporate governance and business communities in order to curate their insights and perspectives.
- Delivering two substantial reports on corporate governance over the year, drawing on desk research and stakeholder discussions.
- Overseeing and contributing to Centre events and activities, including webinars, podcasts and blog articles.
- Overseeing and coordinating twice yearly meetings of the Centre Advisory Board.
- The time commitment will average one day per week, although this may vary across the year.

- We are seeking a highly experienced and respected thought leader to fulfil this role.
- Outstanding ability to use evidence,
synthesise and organise information to produce high quality written material, which is engaging, influential, concise and clear.
- Ability to explain and speak engagingly in public to a range of complex technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively and foster good relationships with colleagues and the external business and corporate governance community.
Qualifications & Experience
- Long-standing experience and reputation as a governance expert, thought leader or commentator.
- Excellent connections in the governance, ESG and business community.
- We are open to applicants with a background in business, academia, the investor community, think-tanks, regulators or the media.
