We have a vacancy for a full time Band 7 Advanced Specialist Critical Care Dietitian within our large, well established dietetic team with the additional benefit of 5% HCAS fringe on salary when based at Basildon Hospital.
Main duties of the job
You will become the lead dietitian for Critical Care at Basildon Hospital. Your clinical caseload will include level 2 and 3 critical care patients requiring parenteral and enteral nutrition.
You will also be required to provide additional support to the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre critical care. As the expert in your field you will have responsibility for supervising and training junior staff, along with line managing band 6 and band 5 dietitians.
You will be responsible for ensuring a safe, timely and effective dietetic service and for promoting staff and service development.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic dietitian who demostrates our Trust values of excellence, compassion and respect.

Main responsibilities
- Have lead responsibility for the advanced dietetic care and service to patients receiving care within the critical care and, where required,
the cardiothoracic critical care unit, high-dependency units and respiratory wards
- To work closely with the multidisciplinary teams including members of the hospital nutrition team to provide nutrition support (including parenteral and enteral nutrition)
- To supervise allocated staff and provide support and training to dietetic team members.
- To work very closely with the Dietetic Therapy Lead to plan service developments within critical care and respiratory specialities
- To identify resources required to run the services in the specialist units
- To participate in the setting of standards and policies within the Dietetic Department and across the Trust.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree / diploma in Dietetics
- Registration with HCPC
- Minimum five years' dietetic experience
Desirable
- Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA)
- Member of the BDA Critical Care Specialist Interest Group
- Leadership qualification, or working towards
Skills
Essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in teaching or training other health professionals

- Able to work under pressure
