Consultant Physician in Acute and General Medicine with a Specialty Interest

10 PA Post

Whipps Cross Hospital

Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking for a full time Consultant Physician in Acute and General Medicine in a substantive post.

You will be joining a department that currently has 10 Consultant Acute Physicians with Specialty Interest.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to develop new models of working and services that support all patients attending the hospital and within the local community.







This is an exciting opportunity to play a role in developing the department and wider services for the future.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Registrar or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.

Informal discussions and visits are encouraged and, should you have a specialty interest, advanced discussion as to whether this would fit within the clinical framework of Whipps Cross University Hospital is strongly recommended.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

- MRCP or Equivalent Specialist qualification
- Full GMC Registration with license to practice
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview)
- Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)

Desirable criteria

- Evidence of participation in research (peer reviewed publications etc.)
- A higher degree (MD, PhD)

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria







- Higher specialist training in Speciality Interest and G(I)Medicine or Acute Medicine
- Broad experience in Speciality and G(I)M / Acute Medicine
- Current ALS certificate

Desirable criteria

- Ability to organise and deliver a teaching programme
- Experience in SDEC and / or ambulatory care

Knowledge

Essential criteria

- G(I)M and of the specialist skills required for this post
- Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients
- Understanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to lifelong learning

Skills

Essential criteria

- ty to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of supervising medical staff
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives,





GPs nurses and other agencies

Desirable criteria

- Ability to motivate busy clinicians to engage in teaching
- Ability to develop research projects and supervise trainees in their research
