Job description

Job overview

The Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics comprises an enthusiastic and highly motivated team of consultants, who provide a variety of subspecialties as well as a general orthopaedic and trauma service.

We pride ourselves on our consultant delivered acute trauma management and elective orthopaedics. We are due to open our new state of the art theatres in December 2023 which will allow us to expand to 20 orthopaedic consultants and enable us to further grow our elective theatre service to reach more patients and improve waiting times.

This expansion of our services creates the opportunity for a new hand and wrist surgeon to join the department.

The job plan will include clinic and theatre sessions in Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw District General Hospital and Mexborough Monatagu Hospital.

The post holder will have a dynamic personality, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an interest in acute care, and the enthusiasm to further develop the hand and wrist service within the orthopaedic department.

Main duties of the job

- Maintain and support the continued development of the provision of elective and emergency orthopaedic surgery, working as a key member of the orthopaedic team.
- Provide a comprehensive service to manage hand and wrist pathology.
- Expand the current provision of hand and wrist elective activity.
- Participate regularly in clinical governance activities and teaching.
