Job summary

This post will provide input intoHarrogate part of the North Yorkshire and York service. Specifically, thisservice is commissioned by the North Yorkshire CCG .

It has a Single Point of Access servicestaffed by an experienced staff team who triage and provide a telephoneconsultation service to families and referrers.

The SPA responds to allreferrals and help young people and their families with the process ofnavigating through the options to find a service that meets their needs.

Theservice works with a model of brief intervention to empower young people andtheir families in achieving good mental health and well-being.

This postarises from a consultant leaving the service, prior to recruiting to this postthere has been a fixed term SAS doctor in post

Main duties of the job

The post holder will, with their consultant colleagues, see all presentations, requiring the input of a psychiatrist arising from the secondary schools and their feeder primary schools within the Harrogate sector.

The consultant would expect to hold a caseload of around 60 based on current consultant caseload and would be asked to see approximately 1 new assessment per week.

The service supports a model whereby all cases are co-worked with other members of the MDT, key worker role usually held by a non-psychiatrist, except where there is a formal mutual agreement that sole consultant input is required with other members of the multidisciplinary team.







The Consultant joining the team will be expected to work in accordance with GMC guidance for working in multiagency and multidisciplinary teams.

The Consultant will be expected to work flexibly.

The post will follow a PA (Direct Clinical Care), (Supporting Professional Activities) which includes a full PA for a specialist interest in research.

This will allow the post holder to develop protected time each week to pursue additional interests such as medical education or leadership opportunities as well as the dedicated time specifically for developing research skills and activities.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Desirable

- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification
- Additional clinical qualifications.

Experience

Essential

- Excellent knowledge in specialty
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge






- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
- Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA

Desirable

Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service

Eligibility

Essential

- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment

Desirable

- Included on the GMC Specialist Register in the relevant specialty.






- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
