Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior clinician to join the Integrated Local Services (ILS) directorate as Deputy Head of Nursing for Health Inclusion Services and Continence.

The successful candidate will provide the clinical leadership for the service, working closely with the wider service management team with the full support of the directorate management team.

The role covers several high-profile established multi-disciplinary specialties and supports an award winning team provide care for Homeless, Refugee and Asylum, Continence advisory and High Intensity User services.

The postholder will also have opportunities to lead on improvement projects, engage with our local commissioners,





maintain strong health and social care partnerships with Lambeth Together and Partnership Southwark.

To deliver in this role, you will need experience of working within multi-professional teams and collaborative working with internal and external stakeholders.

You will have a strong proven track record of inclusive leadership and staff management. You will have a proven history of clinical leadership experience and will demonstrate a high level of organisational skills to facilitate delivery of planned work and unplanned / unpredictable requirements associated with the encourage applicants from all backgrounds.

Main duties of the job

- To provide the Clinical Service Leadership for the Health Inclusion and Continence services.
- The Deputy Head of Nursing will hold the Service Management Team to account for delivery against their personal and the service's objectives through regular performance review meetings






- The Deputy Head of Nursing will ensuring effective action is taken where performance falls below, or is at risk of falling below expected levels, by setting remedial plans with the service manager and clinicians and appropriately challenging any failure of these plans to deliver improvements.
- To professionally lead nursing and multiple professional services and provide coaching and support to develop staff.
- To ensure effective clinical practice and the highest of professional standards from the clinical and professional workforce.
- To lead a culture of professional accountability and responsibility to patients, ensuring that staff learns from complaints and clinical incidents.






- To ensure that robust personal and clinical supervisory processes are in place and recorded appropriately.

Clinical work

The postholder will maintain a senior clinical role in the service with a focus on patient-facing care and support for the MDT.

This will be formalised via a job plan on appointment which will be reviewed annually.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

- Registered Nurse / Registered Allied Professional
- Masters Level Qualification in Relevant Clinical Area
- Proven track record of developing nursing practice
- Evidence of training in first line leadership and management managing sickness and disciplinary
- Experience within Inclusion Health

Desirable

Completed a Recognised Management Qualifications

Skills / Knowledge

Essential

- Well developed leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams, and have them understand the Trust's and your performance expectations.
- Ability to rapidly synthesise and analyse complex information and present options, appraisals, recommendations and reports
- Able to demonstrate tact and sensitivity with staff, colleagues and the public
- Sound knowledge of relevant National Service Frameworks, guidelines, strategies and initiatives and the ability to appraise, interpret and implement in practice
- The ability to implement sound performance and reporting mechanisms for service activity, quality and outcomes and recognise and respond early to variances
- Skilled in word processing, spreadsheets email, databases and using the internet.

Desirable

A clear understanding of the changing NHS environment.

Previous Experience & Additional Information

Essential







- Substantial post qualification senior clinician experience within the community setting and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrable previous success in leading and delivering change and performance by engaging clinical teams in strategic direction and delivery plans, establishing clear work priorities with them, delegating effectively, ensuring a capability to deliver, monitoring performance and giving feedback.
- Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them.
- Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively, and to prioritise work programs in the face of competing demands.
- Knowledge and ability to implement principles of clinical governance including audit, risk management, supervision, clinical effectiveness, continuing professional development, quality standards and outcomes.
- Experience of managing and configuring budgets and the skills to monitor, assess and act on financial information.
- Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create the conditions for successful partnership working.
