Job Title: Legal Counsel – Energy Trading
Type: Full time
Location: London, 3 days a week
A leading energy trading organisation are offering the opportunity for a highly skilled Corporate/Commercial Lawyer to join their in-house legal team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, providing expert legal support across a variety of commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters related to energy trading and finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on commercial contracts and corporate transactions specifically related to energy trading activities.
- Support on finance matters, including commodity trading agreements, derivatives, project financing, and structured transactions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks governing energy trading, including liaising with regulators and staying updated on market rules and trading regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Oversee corporate governance issues and provide legal support on risk management, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
Qualifications:
- Qualified solicitor with 2 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial or corporate law, ideally within the energy trading space.
- Experience with commodities, derivatives, and financial instruments is highly desirable.
- Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills with a focus on energy-related transactions.
The role is onsite 3 days per week in London with a competitive salary. The wider package includes bonus, pension, Bupa healthcare and more.
