We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Production Manager to join our team, playing a pivotal role in delivering our premium products to our discerning clientele.
Job Summary:
The Assistant Production Manager will support the Production Manager in overseeing the entire production process as well as handling vital production related admin, ensuring that all bespoke garments meet the highest standards of quality and are delivered on time. The role requires a deep understanding of tailoring, fabric handling, and garment construction, as well as excellent organisational and communication skills to coordinate efficiently between the workshop, various makers and suppliers, and client-facing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Coordination: Assist in planning and scheduling the production workflow, collaborating with various makers to ensure timely delivery of all bespoke orders while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of garments at various stages of production, identifying and addressing any issues in workmanship, fit, or fabric.
- Supplier Management: Collaborate with fabric and trimmings suppliers to ensure the timely arrival of materials, managing stock levels and special orders as needed.
- Team Supervision: Support the production team,
including tailors and pattern cutters, by providing clear instructions and resolving production challenges efficiently.
- Client Liaison: Work closely with the client-facing team to ensure accurate interpretation of customer specifications, adjustments, and style preferences.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline production processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce lead times without compromising quality.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production schedules, inventory levels, and quality control checks. Assist in preparing reports for management review.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a production role, with experience in
bespoke, made-to-measure,
or customised apparel environments preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, and fabric handling. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 (specifically Excel, OneDrive, and Teams). Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign). Knowledge of other production and inventory management systems is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in data management and organisation, communication methods and in quality control inspection.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive and resourceful, with a knack for troubleshooting
production issues and finding efficient solutions.
- Time Management:
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
