Job description
As the Information and Systems Administrator, you will provide technical support to a programme of work aimed at improving the management of information within the Faculty of Medicine.
The postholder will play a key role in supporting local ICT initiatives to meet current and future requirements, ensuring existing systems are maintained and improved.
This will include the administration of the School’s Student Database (SDB) and managing, organising and analysing student information and feedback on the undergraduate medical programme
- You will administer the School’s Student Database (SDB) and ensure accurate student information.
- You will manage the technical requirements of SOLE for collecting feedback on student experiences.
- You will support the administration and development of other student information and feedback mechanisms.
- You will manage, develop and maintain a series of online forms using Power Apps with Power Automate, Power BI and Qualtrics.
- You will create reports and dashboards from analysing quantitative data using tools like Power BI.
- You will create queries in a core programming language (Python, SQL etc) for extracting relevant data from databases.
- You will develop and deliver clear management and reporting mechanisms on student data, to inform planning and development.
- You will support and promote information governance best practice across the Faculty.
- You will contribute to Faculty-wide IT and information management projects.
- You will contribute to the support and training of staff in handling data to ensure GDPR compliance and in using local and central IT systems.
- A degree (or equivalent qualification) in an IT-related discipline (such as Information Technology,
Computer Science, Computing, Software Engineering or equivalent level of knowledge gained through relevant professional work experience.
- Experience of administrating and developing relational databases such as Microsoft, Access, My SQL, SQL Server, Oracle etc.
- Experience of implementing IT solutions and projects.
- Knowledge of Microsoft data management applications including PowerBI & Microsoft Access.
- Ability to use core programming tools and languages (such as Python, SQL, Visual Basic, Java or similar).
- High level of expertise in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent organisational skills, prioritisation abilities, initiative,
problem-solving, attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Adaptable and flexible with a willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of GDPR, data protection legislation and information security protocol would be desirable.
