Salary : £30,000 - £40,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Job Introduction

BBC Sport are looking for creative and dynamic Assistant Producers to work in our Short Form Digital Video team.

For a century, the BBC has been synonymous with covering the biggest sporting events and reporting on the stories that matter.

From World Cups to the Olympics and everything in between, our teams produce world-class content on TV,





radio and digital for bigger audiences numbers than anyone else, every single day.

Watching video content online is now more popular than ever with sites like YouTube, Instagram and TikTok having all seen an explosion in new video formats.

The BBC is looking for Assistant Producers to join our Sport Productions, Short Form Video Team and produce fast, exciting and relatable content for our large online audience.

Main Responsibilities

Our Assistant Producers are passionate about a range of sports and know what makes a good story. In this job, you ll need to know your sport, and have sound editorial judgement to spot the stories that matter and will engage audiences;

you will relish the challenge of producing creative and ambitious video content within budget.

Our extensive rights portfolio means that we cover some of the biggest events in sport. In 2024 alone, BBC Sport has covered the Uefa Men’s Euros, Paris Olympics, Wimbledon, Six Nations, Premier League & WSL and will cover the FA Cup and the Uefa Champions League.

Working as part of the Sport Productions, Short Form Video team you will produce and edit videos,





write headline copy and publish content direct to our audiences, wherever they are consuming.

That could be on the BBC Sport website or mobile app, BBC iPlayer on TV or on the move via social media on Instagram or TikTok.

You’ll have a demonstrable passion for sport and understand that online audiences have very different expectations to those that watch traditional broadcasts on television.

You’ll be expected to be a flexible, positive, collaborative, and a confident communicator and come up with ideas and treatments for programmes and digital platforms.

Delivering to tight deadlines and maintaining high editorial standards, you will work flexibly to deliver short form video to our vast audience and keep them watching.

- This role requires a proven record of contributing ideas for digital video content. Someone bursting with creative ideas and treatments that reflect the wide audience the BBC needs to reach.
- You will have a genuine and demonstrable enthusiasm and interest in sport, the stories and personalities within it, and a good understanding what stories and moments captivate audiences.
- We are looking for individuals with a flair for content making with experience of sport content production a bonus. Fast turn-around content and post production skills are essential.
- You will have demonstrable experience of video editing for digital platforms, including social media
- Experience and knowledge of sport production, including the ability to identify key ideas,





debates and issues within a range of sports.
- Demonstrable commitment to improving diversity in the BBC and understands how individual differences can benefit the BBC.
- Effective planning and organising skills, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
- The flexibility and adaptability to sustain performance, particularly under pressure to meet very short deadlines and changing priorities and circumstances.
