Job overview
The Paediatric Allergy Department at the Royal London Hospital, part of the Integrated Directorate of the Children’s Hospital Division, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, is seeking to appoint a permanent Consultant in Paediatric Allergy.
Main duties of the job
This is a 10PA post with a focus on the delivery of both secondary and tertiary allergy services within North East London including :
- outpatient clinics including patients with complex multi-system allergic disease
- multidisciplinary team meetings (including with other specialist secondary and tertiary services in and outside the Royal London)
- enhanced Advice & Guidance
- ward based allergy reviews at the Royal London
- supporting the provision of standard and high risk food challenges
- supporting provision of complex drug challenges
- supporting the provision of dust mite and pollen immunotherapy (sublingual and subcutaneous)
- further developing the emerging food immunotherapy provision (e.g. Palforzia peanut immunotherapy, cow’s milk immunotherapy)

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent degree
- MRCPCH or equivalent
- On GMC Specialist Register in Paediatrics or within 3 months of CCT
- SPIN in paediatric allergy (or equivalent training)
Desirable criteria
GRID training in paediatric allergy MSc (or higher qualification) in Allergy
Experience
Essential criteria
- Broad range of clinical experience in Paediatric Allergy
- Up to date Level 3 Children’s Safeguarding
- Up to date APLS / PALS
Desirable criteria
- Experience in drug allergy & immunotherapy
- Experience in research
- Experience in Medical
- Management roles
- Knowledge of business planning and budgets
- Experience of dealing with governance and risk
- Experience of research projects (including PI)
