Job summary
Role Overview
Lagan MEICA is now recruiting for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Belfast. As a recent graduate, you will support the mechanical design and project delivery for contracts and tenders in water and wastewater projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Automation (MEICA) environment and be part of exciting projects, including innovative developments like our Hydrogen and Oxygen Demonstrator project.
What you'll do
The following reflect the main tasks associated with your position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive :
- Assist in ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and CDM regulations during the design and installation phases.
- Support the preparation of client and contractor tenders.
- Assist in obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Help write specifications for orders and subcontracts.
- Aid in placing orders using the COINS system.
- Assist in ensuring mechanical designs are developed with health and safety in mind before construction.
- Provide support to the construction team on mechanical design-related issues.
- Collaborate with Electrical Engineers and CAD Technicians to facilitate smooth project delivery.
What you'll bring
Essential :
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Recent graduate or applicants with up to 4 years’ experience considered.
- A keen interest in multidisciplinary projects, preferably within the water / wastewater industry.
- Awareness of health and safety legislation.
- Basic understanding of water and wastewater treatment systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to project sites within the UK and Ireland.
- A valid driver’s license.
Desirable :
- Some work experience, including internships, within the MEICA or water / wastewater industry.
- Basic CAD skills & experience with design software.
- Familiarity with Business Information Modelling (BIM) or interest in its application.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies or institutes (or willingness to work towards it).
