Job overview
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and friendly Health Care Assistant who would like to work in our Early Pregnancy / Gynaecology department at UCLH.
Our outpatient unit sees women who are seeking urgent advice in early pregnancy and also non-pregnant women who are referred into us for assessment and diagnosis of common gynaecological conditions.
Some of our patient may fall into the following specialities :
- Early Pregnancy
- Gynaecology Oncology
- General Gynaecology
- Fibroids
- Endometriosis
- Mesh removal patients
Main duties of the job
You must be able to work flexibly, resourcefully and enjoy creative problem solving.
Part of the role of a healthcare assistant will be to assist both our patients and Drs with chaperoning.
This role requires emotional maturity and the ability to support those who have had bad news broken to them. You would also be expected to perform basic observations, assist with stock ordering and the general upkeep of the unit.
As a Band 3 HCA you will be expected to act as a role-model to new staff and support in the training and development of new starters.
You will receive training and support from our team of registered nurses to be able to provide an assistant role within our surgical procedures.
Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable nature are essential.
This post is permanent and includes a variety of daytime shift patterns. Training and support will also be provided as our ward has a dedicated nurse educator who will provide a training / induction programme for new staff.
