Job Description
The Regulatory Affairs for European Power role supports our traders, brokers and originators in optimising business opportunities as well as representing Vitol in industry associations and with other institutions at national and international level, as relevant.
Regulatory support
Developing analysis to understand impact of policies and legal/regulatory proposals for the Company and the overall market
- Providing regulatory support to commercial activities within Europe, including helping to establish new revenue streams
- Advice and up to date information to leadership teams regarding power policy developments
- Maintaining records of key policy decisions and related impact
- ‘Horizon-scan’ the industry landscape,
creating awareness and appropriate responses to changes/threats/initiatives
- Maintain overview of EU network codes development (CACM, FCA, SOGL, EB, …)
- Maintain overview of incentives landscape both at the EU and national level (Capacity mechanisms, CfDs, Feed-in tariffs, Premium tariffs, …)
Advocacy
- Developing lobby and advocacy strategies
- Developing and maintaining stakeholder engagement with key government departments, regulators, and other industry bodies
- Building trust and credibility to influence direction at a Policy and Regulatory level
- Represent Vitol at industry forums and respond to industry consultations on behalf of the Company
Compliance support
- Overseeing all power market relevant regulatory reporting requirements – including REMIT – for the Utilities teams
- Cooperating with the Compliance team on any compliance matters that may emerge in the power trading activities
Relevant markets: generation, wholesale power market, long-term transmission rights, PPAs, day ahead and within day market, balancing services across all of Europe.
