Job summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Nurse to join the pro active enthusiastic team at Meadow View. We are a committed team who receive positive feedback from patients who we have cared for and treated.

We are involved in a national QI project and we are looking at ways to improve the patient experience through this project.

The team are passionate about treating older people and championing the older peoples service. We would love to welcome another person to the team to support through their preceptorship and beyond.

Main duties of the job

Care planning for allocated patients, advocating for the patient and supporting them in ward rounds and future planning.







Medication administration and insuring safe practice at all times.

Communicating with family and carers to provide updates and ensure that confidentiality and patient wishes are respected.

Safeguarding as required.

Allocation of tasks on a shift by shift basis and ensure that tasks are completed.

Monitoring mental and physical well being of the patients.

Working with in the team, facilitating time of the ward for patients in accordance with treatment plans and legal frame work.

Working with patient who are held under legal frameworks.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

- Qualification
- Registered (awaiting registration) Nurse with mental health qualification
- Knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of MHA including updates
- Adult safeguarding procedures
- Understanding of assessing clinical risk and management






- Willing to undertake and maintain professional development and training relevant to role

Desirable

- Experience
- Experience of inpatient ward working.
- Understanding of Older peoples mental health and the challenges this can create

Qualifications

Essential

- Qualifications
- RMN / Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current registration.
- A willingness to complete Trust Mandatory Courses (will be required to complete and undertake relevant Physical Interventions training with adjustments considered if required)
- Knowledge and skills
- Essential
- Knowledge or developing understanding of of ordering, storing and administering required medications, possible side effects of medication.
- Developing knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1987 (including updates)






- Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty safeguards
- Ability to form positive therapeutic relationships with service users, carers and other professional bodies.
- To be able to work on the internal ward shift rotation which includes night duties
