Milberg London
London
This is an opportunity to do something different in the law. We are a young, fast growing and entrepreneurial firm specialising in consumer collective actions and commercial litigation. We are seeking extraordinary candidates to join our firm and contribute both to our cutting edge case load and also the strategy and growth of the firm. For the right candidate this is an opportunity to fast track your career and professional development.
Milberg London was established in 2020 as an independent law firm focused exclusively on claimant litigation. Our partners have all previously worked at Jones Day, Freshfields, Pinsent Masons, Dechert, Clyde & Co, Paul Hastings and Mishcon de Reya over the last 15 years before establishing their own firm.
We are looking for an exceptionally bright, hardworking, and able junior solicitor to join our growing team. There will be a high level of responsibility from the outset and the successful candidate will primarily focus on working on our claims against Mercedes and others for diesel emissions cheating, where we have a leading role in the Pan-NOx litigation. We are a young, ambitious, dynamic team and there is scope for the right person to grow with the business at their own pace and operate outside the confines of a traditionally structured law firm team.
In our first 4 years, we have established ourselves as a market leader in UK class actions; launched a competition practice which filed its first case in the CAT in August 2022 and a second case this year; in September 2024 we won Boutique Law Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards; and we are ranked in band 2 for Group Litigation: Claimant in both Chambers & Partners and Legal 500. Four of our six partners are individually ranked.
We've also successfully established a small commercial litigation practice bringing high value claims in complex disputes.
Prior to setting up Milberg London, the partner team gained extensive experience of some of the largest, most complex and high-profile disputes before the London courts including acting for Terra Firma in its multi-billion pound fraudulent misrepresentation claim against Citigroup (Terra Firma Investments GP 2 Limited & ors -v- Citigroup Inc. & Ors); representing Holmcroft Properties Ltd in its novel judicial review of KPMG LLP in relation to the FCA’s review of mis-sold interest rate hedging products by high street banks (R (on the application of Holmcroft Properties Ltd) -v- KPMG LLP),
acting on a multi-billion pound claim by the Federal Republic of Nigeria against JPMorgan Chase Bank (The Federal Republic of Nigeria v JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. [2022] EWHC 1447 (Comm)), acting for the former owners of Liverpool FC in a dispute with the club's bankers arising from the sale of the club (Royal Bank of Scotland v. Hicks, Gillett & Ors) and acting for Ocado Plc in a dispute with one of its founders (Ocado Group Plc & Ors -v- Mr Raymond McKeeve [2020] EWHC 563 (Ch) & [2020] EWHC 1463 (Ch)) . The firm’s partners also have significant experience in obtaining and defending interim injunctive relief in civil fraud claims, such as freezing orders, search orders and disclosure orders.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have no more than 2 years PQE in commercial litigation at a leading law firm
- Be intellectually strong with top class academics
- Be keen to take on a role which provides a considerable level of responsibility
- Have excellent communication and drafting skills – the ability to communicate succinctly is a must
