Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced health care assistant (HCA), to join the children and young people's (CYP) outpatient team at UCLH.

The successful candidate will form part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team who can demonstrate the trust values to join our team.

Our COPD delivers high quality clinical care to our patients from birth until 19th their birthday. The department covers a wide range of medical and surgical specialties.

Previous experience of working with children and young people in a health care environment or related setting is desirable.

The successful candidate will be provided with additional training to enhance delivery of clinical care to our children and young people.







Main duties of the job

The role of the HCA includes : o Ensuring clinics run efficiently at all timeso Proficient in IT skillso The needs of children / young people and their parents / carers are meto Have a duty to recognise any safeguarding needs of our CYP and their families / carerso Promote health and wellbeing for all CYPo Provide day to day clinical assistance which will include phlebotomy, monitoring and reporting vital signs, conducting ECGso Act as a chaperone as required for Assist senior nurses working full time in the department and the multidisciplinary teamo Be required to work flexibly in other clinical areas in the CYP division when required

You will need to be educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, have excellent communication skills and demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellent patient care.

You will be required to complete the National Care Certificate in the first 3 months of employment.

Essential

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant experience / HSC Diploma level 3 Advanced / Higher apprenticeship Level 3

- Experience in carrying out assigned duties after training
