Job summary

Are you a Nurse Associate / Assistant Practitioner?

Are you passionate about patient care and see yourself working in clinic caring for patients wounds?

Within the Chronic Wound Team we have a 30 hour secondment opportunity for a Nurse Associate or Assistant Practitioner. The working hours are Monday- Friday 5pm.

No weekend working and no bank holiday working.

Nurse Associates will work within the team made up of Clinical Sisters, Staff Nurses and Assistant Practioners. You will carry out nursing tasks under the support of registered Nurses.

Development opportunities within the Community & Therapy division are encouraged and supported.

Main duties of the job

- To work autonomously in the community setting reviewing patients in the community setting.
- To be confident and competent in the required nursing skills, extra training will be provided for community specific skills.
- Where additional skills training is identified as required by the job description, the post holder will not undertake those duties until training has been undertaken (except as part of the supervised learning experience).
- Carry out simple and complex dressings on patients making every contact count ensuring onward referral.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The Nursing Associate will support the nursing workforce to provide safe effective care; ensuring evidence based care for patients under the indirect supervision and leadership of a registered nurse (RN).

The Nursing Associate will be proficient and competent and work within their scope of practice as governed by the NMC Code (2018) and NMC Standards of Proficiency (2018).

The Nursing Associate will provide holistic and person centred care and support for people in their care.

The Nursing Associate may be expected to participate in audits and service improvement initiatives.







The Nursing Associate will be expected to supervise and support HCAs, Trainee Nursing Associates and Pre-registration nurses.

It is anticipated that this role will continue to develop through the acquisition of further skills based on NMC (2018) guidelines and development of the Nursing Associate role.

The essential elements required for the post are as follows.

- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
- Level 5 Foundation Degree Nursing Associate or equivalent

GCSEs Grades 4 and above or A to C in Maths and English or equivalent level qualification.

The desirable elements required for the post are as follows.

- QCF in Care / Health and Social Care Level 2 / 3 or equivalent experience.
- Recent clinical experience in an a relevant clinical setting

Education and Qualifications

Essential

- oRegistered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
- oLevel 5 Foundation Degree Nursing Associate or equivalent
- oGCSEs Grades 4 and above or A to C in Maths and English or equivalent level qualification

Desirable

oQCF in Care / Health and Social Care Level 2 / 3 or equivalent experience

Occupational Experience

Essential

- oExperience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- oExperience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
