We’re seeking a Subject Matter Expert Vehicle Powertrain to join our rapidly growing team. Reporting to our Head of Electric Powertrain , you will have an overview of the entire vehicle powertrain, you will work alongside technical specialists in Battery, Power Electronics, Electric Drive Units and Thermal Systems.
Providing support and guidance for the delivery team,
you will manage the balance between project delivery and future development opportunities to ensure that the function continues to supply technically advanced solutions to current and future vehicle programmes..
This pivotal role will operate in a hybrid capacity from our offices near Leamington Spa. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most visionary minds in the automotive field.

What you’ll do
- Perform role of Technical Authority for vehicle powertrain; creating architectures, supporting design and systems engineers, leading technical studies and championing development opportunities.
- Support both Project Engineers and the Design and Integration team to ensure that high quality solutions are designed into current vehicle programmes.
- Contribute to and review DFMEAs, DVPs, vehicle and component test data, supplier specifications and raised risks to provide independent review and guidance to the team.
- Act as a mentor to the engineering team, to share knowledge and experience with the group and encourage production of high-quality documentation and issue management.
- Perform technical sign-off of specifications as well as technical drawings and specification compliance, with respect to vehicle attributes and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and maintain opportunities for development and protection of intellectual property whilst also identifying partners and key suppliers that the company may wish to work with.
Who you are
- An honours degree in an appropriate Engineering field. Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive etc.
- Experience in CAD packages (CATIA preferred).
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of Electric Powertrain components. Driveshaft, Gearboxes, Thermal Systems (including cooling packs, compressors, heat exchangers).
- A good understanding of HV systems including inverters, motors, batteries and power electronics.
- A thorough understanding of BEV control systems and their impact on the Electric Powertrain would be an advantage.
- Experience delivering into high volume programmes or / and publication of technical papers and intellectual property.
