Job summary
An opportunity has arisen in the Fire Safety Team for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Fire Safety Officer.
The successful applicant will join our team in providing support and advice to the main acute and mental health hospitals in Leeds.
This position will focus on developing the successful candidate so that they can provide services to Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
They will be provided with training courses and mentoring to help them to progress towards the position of a NHS Fire Officer.
This will enable them to carry out fire risk assessment, providing fire safety training and day to day fire safety works.
If the apprenticeship is completed successfully at the end of the 2 years the candidate should be in the position to apply for a Band 6 Fire Officers position.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate they have good written and verbal skills and be computer literate. They will be accountable directly to the Specialist Fire Safety Officer.

Main duties of the job
Thepost holder will have responsibilities for undertaking the structured learningprogramme as expected from a fire safety apprentice.
This will be relevant to the delivery of firesafety in a healthcare setting across an Estate that currently has six hospitalsites and various other properties with a total floor area of approximately500,000 m.
The Trust provides a fullrange of acute and specialist services in a variety of buildings dating fromthe late 1800s to the present date.
The apprentice fire safety role covers :
Learning and understanding theconcept and practical application of fire risk assessments in a complexhealthcare setting
Learning the concepts of deliveringfire training to a diverse group of staff
Developing fire training methods ofdelivery
Deliver of fire training
Learning the process of offering fireadvice operational and technical
Learning the concept and process ofaudit and inspections
Learning the process of liaison withthe Fire Service and other statutory authorities
Learning the process of fireinvestigation
