Job summary

To provide the social care needs of CAMHS in-patient service users as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, in conditions of a general adolescent Mental Health Unit.

The successful candidate will join the already established Senior Social Worker on the unit and work closely with them on the unit.

CAMHS inpatient experience is desirable but other forms of experience can be considered.

Main duties of the job

The role will be within the CAMHS inpatient service. We therefore require a person who has a sound knowledge base of the relevant legislation and underpinning guidance that helps us to support and improve well-being in children and young people.







As part of the social work team the postholder will work within an MDT where the social work responsibilities are key in promoting well-being and supporting discharge planning through having an excellent ability to undertake robust social care assessments that feed into CPA and children's social care.

the purpose for this is to be part of the decision making processthat affords children and young people the best opportunities that are available to them.

An interest in this service user group is essential so as to develop positive workingrelationships with both service users, colleagues and families and carers.

The role will be challenging so an ability to work as a team is important to strive to achieve the best outcomes possible for children and young people.

The postholder will also need the ability to challenge others so an ability to demonstrate this professionally is essential.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The postholder will hold a complex caseload with core tasks associated to that caseload.Responsible for own time management, be able to accurately record interventions and havethe opportunity to work in a diverse and interesting service a good understanding of the safeguarding needs of children and young people and beable to address concerns through utilising the appropriate policies and procedures,highlighting where necessary lack of intervention.







Maintain a sound knowledge base relating to the Children Act 1989 whereby the wishes andfeelings of a child or young person are fully considered in any decisions made about them.

Maintain a sound knowledge of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Childwhich provides us with a legally binding international agreement that clearly sets out the civil,AFC 12 / 7 / 23 JME-158-23 Social Worker CAMHS Band 5political, economic, social and cultural rights of every child regardless of race, religion andabilities.

Maintain a sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007) and be ableto dovetail the relationship with the relevant legislation and guiding principles when workingwith children and young people.

Essential

- Social Work Qualification MSW DSW CQSW
- Registered with HCPC







Desirable

Qualification in Family Interventions

Experience

Essential

- Experience of working with complex mental health needs
- Experience of working with children
- Experience of working within carer frameworks and supporting family and friends
- Experience of working with serious and enduring mental health issues

Desirable

Experience of working within CAMHS Inpatients

Knowledge

Essential

- Knowledge of MHA
- Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults
- Knowledge of Child Safeguarding
- Demonstrate knowledge of MHA and updated code of conduct
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant children's, criminal justice and mental health legislation and guidelines

Skills and Abilities

Essential

- Excellent communication skills with service users, carers, colleagues and other professionals






- Sound analytical skills particularly in risk management is essential
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to plan and deliver packages of care
- Excellent IT skills
- Ability to relate to a wide variety of professionals from other agencies

Work Related Circumstances

Essential

- To be able to carry out PMVA in accordance with the role
- Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
- Willing to carry out all duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies
- Appointments to regulated and controlled activities require an enhanced DBS disclosure
