Job summary
The post holder will assist in the coordination of the day-to-day activities in Clinical Trials and will ensure that the administrative duties relating to clinical trials are carried out in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and drug trial protocols.
The post holder will manage (with support from the Clinical Trial's team) all pharmacy aspects of clinical trial studies including development and implementation of pharmacy procedures, managing files, dealing with sponsors, dealing with financial queries and the dispensing of trial medication.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake the receipt, dispensing, accountability,
returns and destruction of clinical trials ensuring all trials are managed in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Clinical Trials Regulations in accordance with Trust procedures.
- To deliver an efficient, structured and accurate clinical trials service complying with national legislation and local policies in conjunction with the pharmacy clinical trials team.
- To work with other members of the pharmacy clinical trials team to develop the clinical trials service in line with Trust strategy and regulatory directives

- To manage quarantined clinical trials medication and report results of quarantined medicine investigations to the clinical trials pharmacists and technicians.
- To plan, organise and manage the daily workload of the pharmacy clinical trials service in conjunction with the clinical trials pharmacy technicians and assistants.
- To ensure dispensing, storage and expiry date records for clinical trials are kept up-to-date.
- To process patient returned clinical trial medicines and clinical trial medicines destruction.
- To manage shipping and clinical trial medicines returns to trial sponsors with external vendors.
- Review and contribute to SOPs for processes within the clinical trials department.
- To process and support implementation of amendments
- To respond to financial queries and produce report
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent (not pharmacy)
- Hospital experience (pharmacy)
- Clinical Trial pharmacy experience
- GCSE Maths & English (min C)
- GCP in last 2 years

A level or B tech equilavent
