Job summary
We are lookingto recruit a Deputy Head of Service for the Acute Occupational Therapy Service,and its subsidiaries, at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS FoundationTrust.
This is an exciting opportunityto be part of a large team of staff working across South Tyneside andSunderland with both inpatient and discharge assessment services at SouthTyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital, and also withspecialist outpatient services some of which have a multi-professionalapproach.
You will beresponsible for day-to-day operational management duties as well ascontributing to service development while also engaging in some clinical dutiesas an Occupational Therapist.
Main duties of the job
The Occupational Therapy Service sits within the Directorate of TherapyServices within the Division of Clinical Support.
Our admission avoidance and inpatientdischarge assessment services provide intervention to support patient-flowthrough the acute hospital setting and actively-involves multi-disciplinaryteam-working and community partnership working within health and socialservices.
Our specialist outpatientservices include Hand Therapy, Rheumatology, Community Stroke Rehabilitation,South Tyneside Wheelchair Services and Community Outpatients / Falls.
Clinically, you will need to have significantexperience at Band 7 level within a physical clinical environment which willneed to include complex moving and handling, excellent knowledge of communityequipment provision, hospital discharge processes and pathways and the relatedgovernance surrounding practise.
From aleadership perspective you will need to have experience and proven success offirst line-management of a team and be passionate about helping people toachieve their potential and be the best they can.

The Post isMonday to Friday, hours per week, with a requirement to work across bothacute hospital sites. Enquirydiscussions and visits are very welcome.
