Job summary

We are inviting applications from enthusiastic mental health professionals for a Band 7 post in our multi-disciplinary ARFID Team, part of our eating disorders service for children and young people.

national and specialist ARFID Team working with young people (2 - 17 years) and their families.

Our multi-disciplinary team includes Clinical Psychology, Nursing, Dietetic, Psychiatry, and Paediatric posts, supported by a friendly Admin Team.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide a specialist service including assessment, treatment, monitoring of outcomes and the provision of clinical supervision, consultation and training.

The post holder will also contribute to service evaluation, research and policy development. There are many opportunities available within the service in relation to continued professional development.

Key responsibilities :

To provide a specialist psychotherapeutic / clinical intervention service to the MCCAED ARFID team including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.

To contribute to enabling other staff,





service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.

To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a specialist in ARFID in children and young people.

To work as an autonomous professional within BPS, HCPC and other professional guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor.

Job responsibilities







The main purpose of this post is to fulfil the role of a band 7 CAMHS Practitioner delivering the highest quality care in a national and specialist service for children and young people with ARFID.

The post holder will be expected to :

Provide a specialist psychotherapeutic / clinical intervention service to the ARFID team, MCCAED, based at the Michael Rutter Centre, part of the National and Specialist Services based at the Michael Rutter Centre, supporting children and young people with eating disorders and their families.

Contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.

Provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate.

Undertake service evaluation, audit and research.

Work as an autonomous professional within BPS,





HCPC and other professional guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, or MSc PG Diploma or Doctorate in Counselling Psychology or equivalent nursing or family therapy qualification . (A / I)
- Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist or equivalent professional registration with AFT, UKCP, NMC. (A / I)

Desirable

Additional training in psychotherapeutic interventions (A / I)

Experience

Essential







- Experience of psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment of clients with a range of mental health needs of a complex nature. (A / I)
- Experience of developing and carrying out research projects. (A / I)

Desirable

- Experience of assessment and treatment of clients with eating disorders, in particular ARFID. (A / I)
- Experience of group interventions with young people and parents / carers (A / I)

Understanding and Knowledge

Essential

- Theoretical knowledge of a wide range of psychopathology and the evidence base for relevant treatment. (A / I)
- Knowledge of research methodology and complex statistical analysis. (A / I)

Desirable

- Knowledge of the potential physical risks associated with eating disorders, in particular ARFID (A / I)
- Knowledge of current evidence base relating to the assessment and treatment of ARFID (A,I)

Skills

Essential







- To deliver psychotherapeutic interventions across diverse client groups. (A / I)
- Well-developed IT skills. (A / I)

Desirable

- Skills in working with young people with ASD / ADHD and or learning disabilities (A / I)
- Skills in working with young people presenting with risky behaviours such as self-harm (A / I)

Abilities

Essential

- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to effective team functioning and holding team roles. (A / I)
- Ability to manage emotionally stressful situations such as working with victims of abuse or trauma, or with people who engage in severe self-harming or aggressive behaviour. (A / I)

Desirable

- Ability to treat co-morbidities such as OCD, anxiety, depression and self-harm. (A / I)






- Ability to work with young people with eating difficulties in the context of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASC (A / I)
