Senior Clinical Fellowship in Cardiac and Maternal Medicine (ST4+)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical fellowship at St Michael’s Hospital, University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in cardiac and maternal medicine.







This is a 12-month fixed term month post, but may be extendable by mutual agreement and on satisfactory performance. This post is due to start in February 2025 but this may be negotiable.

St Michael’s Hospital is part of a large teaching hospital closely linked with the University of Bristol. The post-holder will work within the Obstetrics Department.

The Fellowship is a Cardiac / Maternal Medicine post under the supervision of the Maternal Medicine / Cardiac Pregnancy Team- Dr Johanna Trinder, Dr Aarthi Mohan, Dr Lousie Ashelby, Dr Rebecca Simms, Dr Aamna Ali and Dr Marie O'Sullivan (maternal medicine obstetricians) and Dr Stephanie Curtis and Dr Lisa McClenaghan (pregnancy cardiologists).

The post is designed to provide specific further experience in Cardiac Pregnancy and Maternal Medicine to support an enthusiastic and committed candidate to develop experience and skills in this specialty of obstetrics.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the full shift on-call rota,





including emergency cover for Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Annual leave and study leave are covered prospectively. As a valued member of the team you will be included in the educational and training activities of the unit and encouraged to contribute to the teaching of nurses, midwives and other junior doctors.

There will be opportunities to work with the Cardiac Pregnancy team and Maternal Medicine teams to develop and support the regional cardiac pregnancy / maternal medicine service.

It is anticipated that the post-holder will be able to :

- Attend weekly local and regional cardiac obstetric / maternal medicine MDT meetings and cardiac obstetric / maternal medicine antenatal clinics.
- Attend teaching ward rounds (maternal medicine and cardiac).






- Contribute to inpatient care of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care of women with medical conditions and cardiac disease.
- Contribute to pre-pregnancy counselling of woman with cardiac and medical problems.
