Job description
Themis Recruit are seeking acandidate with at least 2 years of experience in the maritime andtransport sector specifically in advising on transport contractsand resolving related disputes.
Candidates with robust ShippingLitigation backgrounds and a strong interest in Sustainability arealso encouraged to apply.
The role involves advising clientsthroughout the physical transport chain with an emphasis onmaritime (air pollution) regulations environmental compliancedecarbonisation ESG and alternative sustainable maritime fuels andtechnologies.
Ourclient has deep expertise in maritime law and possess a thoroughunderstanding of the maritime market covering dry shippingadmiralty crisis management and transactional matters.
Our clientsrange from shipowners and charterers to P&I; Clubs banksinternational agencies shipyards marine insurance underwritersgovernments and brokers.
Due tocontinued success our client is now expanding their leadingSustainable Maritime Legal Transport practice focusing ondecarbonisation low carbon / net zero fuels and sustainable (ESG)practices.
Their team handles international maritime environmentalcompliance and regulatory issues including MARPOL (air pollutionenergy efficiency and low carbon fuels) sustainability emissionstrading and renewable energy.

Requirements
- Qualifiedlawyer with a minimum of 2 years PQE currently at midlevelAssociate to SeniorAssociate.
- Strong experience inShipping Disputes; specific Maritime Legal Transport experience isa plus.
- Familiarity with physicaltransport contracts (charterparties bills of lading contracts ofaffreightment sale contracts ship management agreements) andexperience handling disputes in the English High Court andarbitration.
- Qualified in Englandand Wales.
- Desirable knowledge ofglobal (MARPOL) and regional regulations (e.g. EU Fit for 55)affecting the maritime sector including Carbon Intensity Indicator(CII) EEXI and EU ETS.
- Experiencewith fuel / bunker disputes is aplus.
- Excellent draftingskills.
- Motivated and enthusiasticthriving in a fastpacedenvironment.
- Strong clientengagement and business development skills with a willingness tocontribute to practice and business development activitiesincluding writing articles and briefings for HFW publicationsrelated to Sustainable Maritime LegalTransport.
- International travel mayberequired.
