Job description

Surrey Heath Family Centre is looking to recruit a Full time youth skills worker.

This role will provide Early Help intervention for 11-19 year olds (or up to age 25 with SEND)

The Youth Skills worker will be a supportive contact for young people, families and professionals working with focussed support for ages 11-19's / 25 SEND and their Families based in the Family Centre.

They will provide signposting through a bespoke programme of work, focussed on the young person's targeted needs. In partnership with the allocated case holder / Family Support Workers , the Youth Skills worker aim is to empower young people, parents and carers by building resilience and providing essential support.







Although working with the young person, they will support all families when required within the centre.

Key Responsibilities :

PW1 Youth skills worker

- Works with children and Young people delivering evidence-based support, demonstrate the difference made from Barnardo's Family Centre service towards the 10 supporting family outcomes
- Organises and holds an engaging Youth Panel, enabling young people to share their voice to positively influence their community and outcomes for Young people.
- Facilitates group-work with colleagues in the centre and within settings where needed, including local schools, community centres.
- Advocate for young people, being the point of contact when needed in the Family Centre.
- Develop online safety skills for young people and their families.
- Deliver universal and targeted interventions with children, young people and their families, on a one to one or group basis.
- Support volunteers and local groups within the service, ensuring that the voice of the child and young person is heard,





influencing decision making and actions.
- Work in partnership with the wider team, youth services, local partners and stakeholders to ensure fully integrated service provision for older children and Young people
- To work in partnership with parents / carers to empower and enable them to achieve better outcomes for their young people.

Observe and recognise a child, young person or family's behaviour, consider its context, and respond to any developmental or behavioural concerns.

Demonstrates ability to assess and analyse family function, dynamics, routines and relationships within the family to help to identify the root causes of difficulties to inform the Early Help Assessment.

- To work in partnership with children's services, SEND services,





signposting to health agencies and other community-based services to support positive outcomes for families.
- Commitment to learning to provide age specific support across 0-19 / 25 SEND agenda aligned with the expected service outcomes.
- Support the development of the Centres as a safe place for families to access for support and information.
- To apply safeguarding and child protection policy and procedures, record information in a timely way to ensure accurate and appropriate record keeping.

Reflecting using Knowledge and experience of multi-agency working within formal systems of Child Protection.

- Deliver child exploitation early support education for families and local providers when needed






- Provide case studies to the Team Manager celebrating success and evidencing what is needed for Young people in the reach area
- Based in the family centre when needed ensuring a welcoming safe space for children, young people and families to access
- Follow health, safety and security policies and procedures in the working environment
