About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Advisor to join our dynamic team. This role will be pivotal in managing and optimizing our sales tax obligations across the Americas, specifically in the USA and Canada.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales tax, a deep understanding of local regulations, and excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Sales Tax Management :

- Provide expert advice on sales tax issues and reporting for both the USA and Canada.
- Ensure all business transactions are managed in compliance with sales tax regulations and make recommendations to optimize tax strategies.

Risk Analytics and Compliance :







- Maintain and enhance sales tax risk analytics, policies, processes, and systems to ensure adherence to local regulations.
- Oversee the accurate and timely submission of sales tax reports, ensuring support from Avalara, our tax compliance software and other relevant tools.

System Configuration and Updates :

- Manage updates and configurations of company systems to align with sales tax compliance and reporting requirements.
- Analyze the implications of system changes on sales tax processes.

Training and Development :

- Prepare and deliver sales tax training sessions for junior team members to enhance their understanding and capabilities.
- Support the management and development of the Tax Assistant role.

Reporting and Reconciliation :







Review and reconcile Avalara sales tax reports against company books to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

Tax Planning and Optimization :

- Conduct thorough analyses of tax matters to offer strategic advice on tax planning and optimization opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations while identifying potential areas for tax efficiency.

Tax Audit Coordination :

- Manage and coordinate responses to tax audits, inquiries, and notices from tax authorities.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and records related to tax filings, provisions, and transfer pricing activities.

Stakeholder Collaboration :

- Build and maintain relationships with external tax advisors and other key stakeholders.






- Collaborate with various departments to align on tax matters and provide guidance on financial issues, including the tax implications of business decisions and transactions.

Skills and Experience

- Experience with Avalara or similar sales tax automation systems.
- Client focused and commercially aware, able to build strong client relationships and manage expectations.
- Strong technical skills including advanced excel knowledge.
- Proven ability to analyze complex tax issues and provide strategic recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to train and mentor junior team members.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.






- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities to effectively meet deadlines within budget.

Education and Experience Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.

g., CPA, CTA) preferred.

- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tax advisory roles, preferably in a corporate and / or public accounting environment with a focus on sales tax and compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of sales tax regulations and reporting requirements in the US and Canada.
- Previous experience in handling corporate tax for companies in the US and Canada.
- Track record of successful delivery of tax projects, ensuring technical excellence with a business driven approach.
