About the team and the role
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, Finance Transformation this role a core member of the Finance Transformation team supporting Ocado Retail’s (ORL) Finance change programme and Finance transformation initiatives.
Ocado Retail, a joint venture owned 50 / 50 by Ocado Group (OG) and Marks and Spencer (M&S;), is expected to deconsolidate from OG and consolidate into M&S; as of April 2025.
The primary purpose of the Finance change and transformation programme is to prepare for the consolidation switch from OG to M&S;, ensuring that all financial accounting, reporting and regulatory requirements are fulfilled along with accelerating and enhancing month end close and ensuring the wider business is informed and prepared for any resulting operational impacts.
Critical objectives of the Finance change and transformation programme include :
- Alignment of ORL financial calendar to M&S; financial year.
- Faster month end close to facilitate efficient consolidation.
- Review of M&S; accounting policies, chart of accounts, controls, governance, compliance, ESG and other reporting requirements with a gap analysis performed and delivery plan to close any gaps formed and executed.
- Systems and tools set up to operate efficiently under the new financial year and taking into account any further controls and compliance requirements.
- Finance ERP system will need to be reimplemented for the changed Financial calendar.
- Inputs, processes and outputs clearly defined and communicated for ongoing Budget, Forecast, five year plan and management reporting requirements.
- Business impact assessment performed that takes into account all departmental implications
In addition to the main Finance change and transformation programme there are further Finance transformation initiatives in scope, which span across cash flow forecasting, management reporting improvements, Oracle Fusion functionality and enhancements and improving the PO >

Invoice processes (GRNI) across Ocado Retail.
What you’ll do
Under the leadership and vision of the Finance Transformation Lead and the support and guidance of the Senior Finance Manager, Finance Transformation, the Senior Finance Analyst, Finance Transformation will be focused on two critical initiatives :
- Faster Month End Close (MEC)
accelerating close by 3 days within the next 6 months MEC journal rationalisation - Review of journals to identify opportunities to eliminate, standardise, simplify and automate (ESSA).
- Support BAU teams to implement these initiatives along with taking ownership on delivering specific initiatives.Accounts Receivable acceleration initiatives and automationMEC Timetable, Workflow, RACI & ReviewsBalance sheet reconciliation process redesign - Agree and streamline B / S close process, templates and RACI;
MEC approach for key reconciliations review, sign-offs, etc. Develop and implement new templates, processes and training to enhance controls, checks, quality and effectiveness of review.
Cashflow forecasting and cash optimisation initiatives Improve the accuracy, robustness,
intelligence and flexibility of cashflow forecasting outputs across Ocado Retail to support effective decision making.
Work closely with heads of Finance to implement previously identified opportunities to optimise cash efficiency, involving changes to processes and ways of working.
Who you are
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or an exceptional part-qualified candidate.
- Exceptional problem solver with demonstrable experience of transforming sub-optimal processes via simplification, standardisation and automation.
- Proactive, ambitious, self-motivated individual who derives purpose and motivation from making an impact within tight timelines and with high visibility to senior leaders.
- Great communicator who enjoys working with a variety of stakeholders across Finance.
- Ability to simplify complexity both in terms of communication style but also in terms of converting complex problem statements into simple, focused and clear solutions.
- Takes a hands-on approach to problem solving. It’s critical that the successful candidate is comfortable, willing and able to get under the hood of the systems and deliver results independently.
- An aptitude for systems and comfortable with thinking about how to approach and implement automation of existing manual processes (with the support of the wider Transformation team).
- Comfortable working within a medium to large, fast paced, complex, customer focussed environment.
- Proven track record of influencing change within an organisation.
Desirable :
- Experience working with Oracle Cloud ERP Financials.
- Experience working with Oracle Cloud EPM / Hyperion solutions.
- Experience of working within an organisation that exhibits good practice / leading class month end close processes.
