Post: Clinical Fellow OPHTHALMOLOGY
Salary: £40,995- £64,461
Hours: 40 hpw
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow post at Mountainhall Treatment Centre, Bankend Road, Dumfries in the specialty Ophthalmology.
The post is available immediately and the successful applicant will be working alongside our Ophthalmology Consultants. The role will include clinic work and assisting in theatre whilst taking phone calls from wards, GP surgeries and the Emergency Department. There will also be the opportunity for a quality improvement project within the ophthalmology department.
The Department provides an ophthalmology service for the Dumfries and Galloway region (population 150,000).
Out-patient clinics and day cases are undertaken at Mountainhall Treatment Centre, Dumfries. Theatre and Acute Service are undertaken in the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and the Galloway Community Hospital (GCH) in Stranraer. Elective surgery is performed at MHTC in a dedicated eye theatre and additional local anaesthetic cataract surgery at the GCH. Medical staff are supported by Nurse Practitioners in Glaucoma, Cataract and Plastics clinics. Our paediatric service is fully supported by our Orthoptic team.
The medical teams across all wards and departments aim to provide high quality medical education, with all junior trainees receiving clinical and educational supervision along with regular invites to attend relevant teaching sessions. This is delivered in a supportive and friendly environment. NHS Dumfries & Galloway has a strong sense of community as does the population it serves.

To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both full GMC registration and a license to practice.
To be eligible for the posts at StR level you must have completed foundation training or equivalent. To be eligible for a post at FY2 level you must have completed FY1 level or equivalent.
