The Role
Commercial Fleet and Operations Manager – Network Planning
The Network and Airports team have the ambition of creating the most profitable Network in Europe. This role sits in the Network and Airport Strategy sub-team, which oversees network-wide strategy issues and adds a strategic lens to airport cost. It is responsible for the deployment of capacity across the network within a time horizon of 6 months to 5 years from operation and it sets the vision for the network, translates this into an allocation of aircraft by base, and supports the implementation of the network vision downstream by our network and airport managers.
The team owns the top-down view of easyJet’s network across all bases,
defining the network and investment of capacity to deliver long term profitability, whilst building a coherent strategy to compete with major competitors, defining easyJet’s destination strategies, and providing strategic guidance for negotiations with our airports to deliver cost benefit.
In addition, they also manage the commercially available fleet to ensure the final schedule build reflects the available capacity and decisions taken in the capacity allocation process. It also oversees ‘in season’ capacity adjustments to ensure easyJet maximises profitability and embraces agile ways of working to achieve competitive advantage in a dynamic environment.
The team regularly interfaces with a wide range of functions across the business, including Operations, Scheduling, People and Strategy; providing an excellent opportunity to work alongside a core range of stakeholders and learn how easyJet plans and delivers its flying.
How you will do it:
You will be responsible for maximising the availability and utilisation of the fleet of over 300 aircraft to drive profitability and for the management of the new routes and new network point process.
You will define the commercial availability of aircraft across several dimensions for each season (e.g. gauge, phasing, AOCs) to create stable planning assumptions, managing the trade-offs across our footprint of bases.
You will play a pivotal role in implementing the capacity allocation decisions defined by the Network team and own the relationship between the Fleet Procurement team (which manages the fleet at a total level) and the commercial and operational teams acting as a critical point of coordination.
Striving to maximise the commercial utilisation of easyJet’s aircraft you will track commercial fleet utilisation indicators and identify growing trends. Alongside this will support the broader business in ad-hoc fleet projects; including those at a strategic level defining the future of the fleet and potential fleet orders.
What you will need to do the role:
· You will need to be highly numerate with strong analytical skillset and able to run complex analysis, allocation models and business casing for strategic projects, to support this you will need to be an expert in MS Excel.
· Ideally you will have an interest and motivation for the airline sector – with a strong grasp of the European short haul competitive landscape. Experience in airline fleet planning or scheduling is also ideal.
· The role requires an excellent communicator who is able to build relationships and rapport and have the ability to present results and recommendations.
· Highly organised and delivery focused – able to work on multiple projects or processes simultaneously with flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced changing environment with ability to think outside of the box and challenge the status quo to solve problems
· You will also need to be a fluent English speaker with the ability to travel around our network on occasion.
What you’ll get in return:
· Competitive base salary
· Up to 20% bonus
· 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with opportunity to buy 5 additional days leave after 12 months in role
· BAYE, SAYE & Performance share schemes
· 7% pension
· Life Assurance (x4)
· Discounted staff travel scheme with access for friends and family
· Annual credit for discount on easyJet holidays
· ‘Work Away’ scheme, allowing you to work abroad for 30 days a year
· Electric vehicle lease salary sacrifice scheme
· Access to online learning tools and development programmes
