A unique opportunity to teach small groups and to make a difference
Full-time or Part-time Psychology/Sociology Teacher
MPS/UPS + SEN 1
Start date: 1st January 2025
Would you like more time to build relationships with your students, have smaller teaching groups (a maximum of eight students) but still be able to teach students with the potential to achieve high grades at A Level? Due to expansion, we have a vacancy for an experienced and enthusiastic teacher of GCSE and A level Sociology and/or Psychology, with the willingness to teach and develop both areas at GCSE and A level. Experience in teaching GCSE History is desirable, but not required for the role.
We can offer you the opportunity to focus on a small number of students with an Education, Health Care Plan for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs and transform their experience of education. You would also be supported by a formal induction process and training opportunities.
This post will be based at our new 6 Oaks (sixth form) site in Ham, teaching Sociology and Psychology to students aged 16+. As well as teaching on-site, 6 Oaks staff may also deliver 1:1 tuition in the home or community settings for students who are unable to access on-site learning.
All our staff work in a flexible way and so there may be the potential to also teach at other Malden Oaks sites and/or to teach additional/alternative subjects. All subject teachers also work as tutors, taking pastoral responsibility for 6-8 students.
We are committed to offering a broad and balanced curriculum to allow students a huge choice and develop their interests. As well as engaging in the formal taught curriculum, students are encouraged to develop in other areas through our DofE activity programme.
Supporting our students in developing positive relationships, self-confidence, resilience, and creativity is crucial to our ethos and is not measured solely by our academic results but by the views of our past and present students.
You can view our Prospectus on our website here for more information about 6 Oaks.
