As part of our vibrant expansion phase, Salford City Council’s Children’s Residential Service is in search of spirited individuals for the role of Peripatetic Residential Childcare Worker.

What Does the Role Involve?
As a Peripatetic Residential Childcare Worker, you will be a cornerstone in multiple homes, offering stability, warmth, and creativity in each setting you step into.
As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will lead by example, providing high-quality care and support to children and young people, at times in crisis.
This role requires resilience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to supporting young people through their most challenging times.
Your day-to-day role will involve :
Flexibility and Adaptability : You will work across various homes, adapting to different teams and environments, ensuring that every child receives the highest quality of care and a sense of belonging.
You will, led by a team of Peripatetic Senior Residential Childcare Workers and a Peripatetic Team Manager, respond to sickness and absence and period of crisis within homes.
Direct Care :
From daily routines to crisis management, you’ll be hands-on in providing direct support to our children, helping them grow, learn, and thrive.
Emotional Support : Be a pillar of emotional support and guidance, helping to shape the lives of our young residents through compassion, understanding, and respect.
Who Are We Looking For?
We need more than just employees; we are looking for passion-driven individuals who :
Whether you’ve worked in children’s services before or have transferable skills in care and support, your passion for making a difference is what truly matters.
You must have previous and relevant experience of working with young people and families or have worked in a residential setting and have extensive experience of working with young people experiencing crisis.
A strong background in therapeutic parenting, behaviour support and de-escalation techniques is also essential. A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare is essential (or willingness to work towards this).
You also need to be r eady to take on challenges with a smile, adaptable to changing environments, and resilient in the face of adversity.
Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to connect with young people is a must!

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £38.
00. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £9.50 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £38.00.
