Reporting Line: To the Managing Director
Main Purpose of the Role:
To direct all sales activities of the business to ensure that business objectives are met efficiently and effectively. To develop the overall customer strategy of the business and to support peers to deliver excellent sales results. To collaborate with other functions to ensure a robust, winning pricing structure is in place to maximise market share and profitability
Direct Line Management:
The position has direct responsibility for the management and supervision of the following key positions:
External Sales Teams
Internal Sales Teams
Strategic Planning and Implementation:
Alongside the Leadership Team,
playing a major role in contributing to the formulation of the sales & customer strategy for the business and playing a leadership role in the first-class execution of all branch & colleagues sales plans

Executive Committee Meetings: Attendee & Contributor
Pricing Meetings: Attendee & Contributor
Management Meetings: Attendee & Contributor
Selective Supplier Meetings: Attendee & Contributor
Sales Team Meetings: Chair
1 To 1 Meetings with the MD: Attendee & Contributor
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain working relationships with all other executive committee members to ensure effective co-ordination of all company activities in support of business objectives
- Act as the main advisor for the business on all issues relating to customers and sales
- Develop, implement and ensure the ongoing success of the J T Dove customer sales strategy, ensuring profitability is optimised and market share is the key focus
- Evaluate overall company performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting sales data and metrics (then)
supporting the entire business in the execution of plans for sustained improvement
- Taking a leading role for the business in the development of relationships with our Buying Group, ensuring that J T Dove is represented and benefitting from its membership
- Work within the J T Dove structure to optimise the business pricing structure, ensuring terms maintenance to achieve consistent pricing
- Direct, lead & coach all sales staff to ensure that they are motivated and suitably trained to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard
- Responsibility for the continued development and execution of the company CRM system ensuring success levels are optimised from all users
- Working closely with the Marketing & Commercial teams to ensure that we are delivering relevant products & promotional activities that have meaning for our customers across ALL product groups
- Become an expert of latest developments in the market place to ensure that the business maintains its competitive position & delivers market share growth
- Embrace the use of technology, develop tools for the future and develop the relevant training that will ensure our sales colleagues remain ahead of the game and are able to sell products from ALL of our product groups
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Desired:
- Extensive Sales Management experience
- Significant industry experience
- In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles
- Thorough knowledge of the business and its products and services
- Thorough knowledge of the market place and industry trends
- Thorough knowledge of CRM systems and the link to increased performance
