Directorate: Regeneration & Environment

Temporary fixed term to provide maternity cover from 1st December 2024 – 30th November 2025.

Part time, 22.2 hours per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with occasional weekend working).

We are looking for an experienced early years practitioner to cover the maternity leave of our Family learning Officer and be part of our learning and engagement team based at Clifton Park Museum, for Rotherham Museums, Arts and Heritage team. The Family Learning Officer delivers our amazing programme for early years children and their families, including Nelson’s Cub Club, Targeted family and intergenerational programmes and family learning across the museum and our heritage sites.

This post will offer the opportunity to further develop early years and family learning experience and skills, as well as develop creativity and expertise as we develop our intergenerational programme in 2025. It is such an exciting time to join the Rotherham Museums, Arts and Heritage team which includes Clifton Park Museum, Boston Castle and five heritage sites across the Rotherham Borough. Together the service has created a new mission to ‘spark imagination, curiosity, and roots through the celebration of Rotherham’s people, stories, spaces and collections’. This is underpinned with five values of generosity, quality, inclusivity,





wonder and resilience.

The service is part of the Arts Council England 2023-26 Investment Programme as a National Portfolio Organisation. Over the next three years the service is committed to developing the spaces, collections and people that we care for to spark imagination and curiosity. In 2025, Rotherham will also become the world first Children’s Capital of Culture which presents a wonderful opportunity for the service to build connections with children, young and people and their families to build cohesion, empathy, pride and aspiration.

The Family Learning Officer will have the opportunity to develop, manage, implement and evaluate a high quality, creative intergenerational family learning programme for children under 5 and adults over 55.





They will work with staff, partners, creative practitioners, communities and volunteers to develop both a digital and physical programme at venues and community spaces. We need someone who has experience of collaboratively developing inclusive and creative programmes for intergenerational families with children under 5 that are centred around communities need.

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for part-time).
