This new and exciting role has been created within the Haematology Directorate at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust to support the delivery of the cancer waiting time targets (including the 28 day faster diagnosis pathway) for Haematology patients.







The role is part of a number of service developments being taken forwards as part of our commitment to improving local services, delivering the best care via a dedicated and supported multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist delivering an expert, specialist service to patients entering haemato-oncology diagnostic pathways including the 28 Day faster diagnosis pathway.

The role includes developing, implementing and evaluating a seamless specialist service ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of clinical care and have access to the full resources of the multi-disciplinary team whilst receiving all aspects of treatment.

This will be achieved through autonomous clinical practice, management of patient caseload, education, research,





audit and professional activities underpinned by expert knowledge in Haematology.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics.

The programme is full-time (please email if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

- Evidence of understanding and knowledge of speciality.
- Registered nurse
- Degree in nursing, cancer or other health-related discipline
- Masters qualification or evidence of work at Masters Level
- Haematology experience

Desirable criteria

Project Management Qualification







Skills

Essential criteria

- Ability to manage change and influence others
- Effective time management skills / ability to work to deadlines

Desirable criteria

- Ability to undertake bone marrows independently
- Ability to undertake clinical examinatins
- Referrer under IRMER

Experience

Essential criteria

- Post registration experience in Haematology.
- Proven clinical skills & sound knowledge base in Haematology in a relevant setting
- Knowledge of Cancer Patient Experience.
- Good working knowledge of cancer waiting time targets and diagnostic pathways.
