Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Nursery Nurse to join our team on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We are a regional level 3 intensive care unit with 42 cots, caring for the smallest and sickest babies across East Anglia.

In conjunction with a qualified nurse / midwife and the Senior Neonatal Nursery Nurse the post holder will undertake assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care for neonates and their families.

Job description

Job responsibilities

- Maintain a high standard of holistic family-centred care.
- Assess, develop, implement and evaluate care of the neonate in conjunction with qualified nursing staff.
- Support mothers with their infant feeding choices as per Trust Policies and the Breast Feeding Initiative.
- Assist as appropriate in clinical procedures under the supervision of qualified staff.
- Liaise with the Family Care Team and Neonatal Outreach Team to support families, promote parent education and discharge planning.






- Maintain accurate records of all care given.
- Communicate effectively with parents, relatives, carers, significant others, the multi-disciplinary team and support services.
- Ability to recognise a sick infant and initiate appropriate resuscitation.
- To effectively use information technology for the benefit of patient care in accordance with the Trusts Cyber Code of Conduct.
- To maintain confidentiality of information (written, verbal, electronic), whilst being aware of the Freedom for Information Act.
