Job summary

Are you highly motivated and enthusiastic with excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills looking for a rewarding and dynamic role?

The RNENT & ED Hospitals (UCLH) are recruiting a Senior Assistant Technical Officer / Associate Paediatric Audiologist on a permanent basis for hours per week.

Previous experience in Audiology is desirable but not essential. This role will be a great opportunity to work in a team of paediatric audiologists and work alongside multidisciplinary teams.

Paediatric Audiology has undergone a lot of changes throughout the years, and we are looking for an individual who can be part of a team who is keen to improve service delivery.

Main duties of the job







The successful candidate will be assisting in paediatric audiology assessments and performing a variety of tasks including carrying out hearing aid repairs, ordering stock and responding to patient queries and correspondence.

There is an opportunity for the post holder to develop their skills and interests in the field of Paediatric Audiology.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

- oNVQ level 4 in Customer Care, Healthcare Science or Information Technology, or equivalent
- o5 GCSEs at grade A* to C, including a science subject, English and Maths,





or equivalent
- oKnowledge of different types and degrees of hearing loss

Desirable

o2 A levels in science / maths / IT or similar, or equivalent

Experience

Essential

- oExperience in a customer care environment
- oExperience working with hearing aids and repairs

Desirable

oUnderstanding or knowledge of the NHS

Skills and Abilities

Essential

- oKnowledge and skill in use of computer programmes including Word and Excel, and evidence of ability to learn to use new software
- oAbility to deal regularly and appropriately with angry, frustrated or distressed individuals
- oExcellent customer care skills

Desirable

oKnowledge of NHS and audiology computer systems

Communication

Essential

- oExcellent communication skills






- oGood command of English both written and verbal

Personal and People Development

Essential

- oAbility to work well in a team
- oAbility to work without supervision and work independently following relevant procedures, guidelines and policies.

Specific Requirements

Essential

- oEffective IT skills including experience of Microsoft Office and Audiology software systems.
- oHighly developed skills where accuracy is important, such as taking ear impressions, use of probe tube microphone measurements.
