Job summary
We are recruiting an 8a senior pharmacist role within the Medicines Optimisation Team in will be supported by the place-based Assistant Director of Medicines Optimisation and a range of other place-based team members.
Your key remit will be to support the leadership of medicines optimisation plans and financial accountability for the prescribing budget at Place, working through a distributed leadership model supported by the ICB Chief Pharmacist, Associate Chief Pharmacists, Consultant Pharmacists, and colleagues.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to develop excellent partnerships to drive high value medicines optimisation withinPlace partnerships including public health, local council,
voluntary sector and primary care including Primary Care Networks, GP practices, GP Federation, community services, community pharmacy and the SEL Pharmacy Alliance.
This includes cultivating a supportive and safe environment in which strengths can be shared, challenges made and the impact of decisions on the whole system reviewed and understood.
The role will be based at 160 Tooley St, London SE1 2QH, with travel to other sites within the ICS as needed.

The South East London ICB is the NHS management unit of the ICS. It is accountable both to NHS England and to the South East London Integrated Care Partnership (ICP).

You will be joining a well-established medicines optimisation and pharmacy system in South East London. A SEL Integrated Pharmacy Stakeholder Group and pharmacy leadership team provides a forum for pharmacy leaders to drive forwards collaboration and transformation.
Our approach is to work together to harness and build on our collective resources, including staff to drive change.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
Essential
Degree in Pharmacy : currently a masters degree taking 4 years plus one year pre-registration (5 years in total) or equivalent.
Current registration with General Pharmaceutical Council. (max 3)
Post-graduate qualification in clinical / community pharmacy or equivalent knowledge and experience.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of developing medicines optimisation services in challenging environment.
- Extensive experience of negotiating and implementing change in practice
- Experience of multidisciplinary working and successfully setting up and managing internal processes and procedures
- Extensive, community and / or hospital pharmacy experience or experience of providing prescribing support to primary care organisations or practices.
- Knowledge of various sources of prescribing data and GP systems, ePACT2, EMIS
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Ability to assimilate, analyse, interpret and present complex financial and clinical data. Ability to analyse highly complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources.
- Ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required.
- Ability to re-prioritise ongoing planned work and projects adjusting to changing requirements and organisational needs.
- Highly developed organisational skills - demonstrates sound judgement in the absence of clear guidelines or precedent, seeking advice as necessary from more senior management when appropriate.
- The ability to work in partnership with lead clinicians and health care professionals within and outside the ICB and a partnership approach to working across organisations.
