Job summary

An excellent opportunity exists for dynamic team players to join Humber Health Partnership as Consultant Physicians with an interest in Acute Medicine.

The successful candidate will form one of an expanded team of consultants in the department providing services at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Foundation Trust and Hull Teaching Hospital.

The posts have been developed on the background of service redesign, 7 day access and growing needs to support education and training.

The appointees shall join General Physicians in medicine, each with a special interest.

All you need is :





Good experience in acute / general medicine at least at registrar's level;Motivation and enthusiasm;CCT or equivalent in acute medicine or medical specialty (or a date within 6 months of the interview date).

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be appointed as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School (HYMS).

This honorary appointment is in recognition of contribution to teaching and research and holders of honorary titles may request access to HYMS and University premises and facilities, systems, and library services.

Key Responsibilities :

- Deliver expert clinical care to acute medical patients, focusing on comprehensive and individualized treatment plans.
- Lead and manage the acute medical unit, fostering a culture of empathy, respect, and excellence.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective patient care plans.
- Engage with patients and their families, ensuring clear communication and shared decision-making.
- Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols to enhance patient safety and quality of care.
- Mentor and train junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.






- Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of acute medicine.
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing emergency care and guidance as needed.

Job responsibilities

NLaG is developing and investing in its acute care model. Integrated Acute Assessment Units (IAAU), including Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), have been in place since 2020.

Significant building improvements have taken place; two purpose built Emergency Departments, with a full refurbishment of IAAU.







Information systems on the unit have been recently modernised to improve patient care and further initiatives to deliver a full Electronic Patient Record.

On site, state of the art diagnostics are available 24 / 7, with new MRI and CT facilities recently opened. This really is an exciting time to join us.

The aim is to provide a high quality, safe and compassionate service.

There is an excellent modern Development and Education Centre with extensive facilities. The opening of the Hull York Medical School has brought an increase in the number students being taught within the Department.

The successful candidate will be expected to take part in the teaching of medical students.

Qualifications & Eligibility

Essential

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCP or equivalent medical qualification
- Applicant's knowledge is up to date and fit to practise safely
- Meets professional health requirements (in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice)
- ALL sections of application form FULLY completed
- Appropriate to the holding of a Consultant in acute medicine
- Entry on the Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within six months of interview), CESR or European Community Rights
