Job summary
- To support and deputise for the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse to ensure the provision of excellent nursing care and the effective management of staff and other resources.
- To carry out the day-to-day management and coordination of the ward / department.
- To ensure that there are education and training opportunities for all staff, including pre and post registration students.
- Act as an advocate for child and family. Provide unsupervised nursing care.
- Our PICU provides specialised care across multiple disciplines, including oncology, infectious diseases, neurology, neurosurgery, major trauma, ENT and paediatric surgery.

- a)Nursing Qualification
- b)Holds paediatric intensive care course / modules or equivalent post-registration ICU course.
Desirable
- a)clinical Leadership Course / skills
- b)completion of preceptorship programme.
- c)Practice Assessor or Practice Supervisor Qualification
Experience
Essential
- a)Two years post-qualification experience with at least 6 months in Paediatric Intensive Care within the last year.
- b)Demonstrates experience in assessment, care planning and evaluation.
- c)Practice Accessor or Practice Supervisor Qualification.
