We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our Pharmacy team at at HMP Altcourse, a category B male prison located in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool.
HMP Altcourse is one of the busiest remand prisons in the country, so no two days are the same!
Joining a team of 17 in Pharmacy, you will have the opportunity to work across specialist areas, gaining valuable experience - this is a great route into Pharmacy! We are proud to offer lots of training and development opportunities, including Dispenser qualifications and training to Pharmacy Technician.
Hours
This is a full time role, hours per week,
with shifts usually being 07 : 00 - 15 : 00 Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work.
Salary
This is a full time role, and the salary is £23,100 - £27,195 depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As our new Pharmacy Support Worker / Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include :
- You will be working predominantly across two areas - methadone clinics and substance misuse, as well as help out on the wings and in the medication hatches - this is an excellent and rare opportunity to work across these areas!
- Provide high quality support to the supply, preparation and assembly of medicines under the direction of the responsible Pharmacist
- Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines
- Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures
- Be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals

Our new Pharmacy Support Worker will :
- Ideally have experience within a Pharmacy environment (such as community or hospital based), but this isn't essential
- Any healthcare experience is a bonus, for example a care home or hospital
- Have a non judgemental and compassionate approach
- Ideally have medicines handling experience, although this isn't essential
- Be a hard worker, diligent,
with a high attention to detail
- Have a keen interest in Pharmacy work
