Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist, with a minimum of 5 years post qualification work experience to work within a community Reablement Service - an integrated health and social care service between London Borough of Tower Hamlets and East London NHS Foundation Trust.

You should be highly organised,innovative, self motivated, with strong OT skills, have experience of managing / supervising others, with sound knowledge of social care, health care, and Transformation agendas.

You will demonstrate previous experience of team management, including performance management, building working relationships and driving improvement.

Evidence of continued self development,





commitment to supporting staff development, clinical quality and improvement is essential, with a proven record of clinical achievement and user / public focus.

We offeropportunities for training and CPD. Currently the service generally operates a flexible working arrangement Monday-Friday.

There may be a requirement to work flexibly (outside of these hours) to met service needs.

Main duties of the job

To clinically lead and develop the provision of a high-quality expert Occupational Therapy Service to a specialist community caseload of adults and older people with a wide variety of disabilities and their families / carers.







The post is community-based within an integrated multidisciplinary Reablement Service.

It involves the training, support and guidance of a range of staff to undertake enhanced roles, including personal care, rehabilitation and reablement so that a more holistic / integrated approach to the management of Service Users with complex needs (those with chronic illness / disease) can be achieved and the users' independence is promoted.

It also involves the assessment and provision of occupational therapy, working with users and informal carers in their homes and local communities to promote independent living.

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical and professional supervision, training & development of all staff working within the Reablement Service.

Person Specification

Education / Qualification / Training

Essential

- oBSc degree in Occupational Therapy
- oAHP HCPC registration






- oEvidence of ongoing, relevant postgraduate education Leadership training
- oDBS clearance

Desirable

- oEvidence of relevant masters level qualification or equivalent specialist experience.
- oEuropean computer drivers licence - or established computer literacy.

Experience

Essential

- oExperience of supervision senior and junior staff, students and assistants including HR management
- oClinical experience in the NHS or similar health service
- oAbility to support others in maintaining health, safety and security
- oAbility to identify and assess the potential risks involved in work activities and processes for self and others






- oAbility to assess and act against risks and consequence of exposure to users and environments which maybe highly distressing, oantagonistic, open to aggression and / or unpleasant to self, users and others
- oExperience of service redesign and implementing change
- oPrevious participation in research
- oExperience of Equal Opportunity policies and procedures including the needs of a diverse community

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

- oActs in a way that is consistent with legislation, policies and procedures and abide by the LBTH / Trust Health and Safety policies
- oUnderstanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession, including social care legislative frameworks

- oKnowledge of current and emerging Social Care and NHS strategy and policy
