Job summary
Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking torecruit a Consultant Obstetrician / Gynaecologist with a special interest in Gynae-oncologymedicine.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a friendly and forwardthinking Obstetric and gynaecology team in a successful Trust in SouthYorkshire.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate, with the support ofthe new Gynae-Oncology and Maternity Medicine Network, will help consolidatecurrent services as well as developing further services in line with thenational maternity plan and Saving Babies Lives V3.
The postholder will also havethe opportunity to help take the Gynae-Oncology service forward.
There will alsobe the opportunity to develop a special interest if so desired.

The post is advertised as a full time post, but anyapplicant requiring LTFT working arrangements will be equally considered forthe post.
Main duties of the job
Obstetrics
TheObstetric service provides a comprehensive local service, and the team manageall midwifery services in the hospital and the community in a new Labour ward.
Such is the quality of care in Barnsley many women choose to come from thewider region to deliver here. Progresstowards improved continuity of care has been considerable and the developmentof the role of midwifery staff has been significant.
The unit has been an earlyadopter of the SBL care bundles and is progressing very well with SBLV3.
Theunit is in the top ten nationally for its detection rate for growthrestriction.
Thereare multidisciplinary specialist clinics such as Medical Disorders, FetalMedicine, Perinatal Mental Health, Preterm Clinic and a high risk Maternaldiabetes MDT clinic run with Consultant Diabetologists, DSNs and a lead midwifefor diabetes.
The postholder will also have an opportunity to work towards runningthe Medical Disorders clinic if so desired.
Gynaecology
Thereare well established services providing, in addition to General Gynaecology, accreditedspecialised clinics including Colposcopy, Urogynaecology, 2 week wait Cancerreferral, Hysteroscopy, Vulval, EPAU and Termination services.
There is a newGynaecology Day Assessment unit providing service over 5 days during the week.
Thepostholder will be asked to participate in general gynaecology clinics, fasttrack and Gynae-Oncology theatre sessions and help develop the service.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC registration
- MRCOG or equivalent
- CCST or equivalent
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 12 months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee
- ATSM or equivalent in Gynae-Oncology
Desirable
- Special Interest accreditation (ATSM) / Equivalent in obstetric medicine
- Obstetric ultrasound
- Higher Degree
- Evidence of research / publication
Experience
Essential
- Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCST
- Appropriate training in Special interest of choice
