Job summary
The Sheffield Diabetic Eye Screening Service has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and reliable individual to join their growing service.
This administrative position is pivotal to the smooth and efficient running of a fast paced successful candidate will be part of a small team responsible for the supervision of the contact centre staff in addition to working collaboratively to ensure patients progress safely through the screening and Ophthalmology treatment pathway in a seamless and timely manner.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will act as a supervisor to the AfC Band 2 staff in the service,
training new starters on the administrative tasks they need to perform and supervising the team members on a day-to-day basis, directing them to priority tasks
- Outcome all the clinic and treatment appointments on the EPR, confirming the validity of the 18wRTT and investigate any outlying performance, takingaction to recover the waiting time.
- Update the pathway on the Screening Programme's Patient Administration System(OptoMize) to reflect the HES event.
- Refer to the Electronic Medical Record (MediSIGHT) for the correct disease codingfor entry into OptoMize.
- Monitor the clinic utilisation and take action to recover any underutilisation.
- Managing the creation and cancellation of clinics on the Trust's Electronic PatientRecord system (EPR) to match planned leave, recovery plans and job plan changes.
- Support the Contact Centre team with incoming calls as and when required.
- Book appointments for specialist clinics and laser treatments on the EPR.

The Sheffield Diabetic Eye Screening Service serves a population of more than 37000 people with diabetes. Diabetic eye screening is a key part of diabetes care.
People with Diabetes are at risk of damage from Diabetic Retinopathy, a condition that can lead to sight loss if it is not treated.
The Service provides photographic eye screening and examination of the images to detect sight threatening retinopathy.
The Service also works directly with the Ophthalmology Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to ensure that patients requiring further tests and / or treatment receive seamless and timely care.

Essential
- GCSE English and Mathematics, at grade C / 4 or above or equivalent qualification / experience
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent Experience
- OCR II or equivalent in Word Processing / typing or Equivalent qualification / experience

- ECDL Parts I and II
- British Association of Retinal Screeners Administration Certificate
