Main duties of the job
As a Senior Sister / Charge Nurseyou will work with our Ground Floor nursing teams and report directly into theHead of Department.
Our Ground Floor Department contains 30 beds and includesresidents with complex neurological and respiratory needs. You will work tosupport the multi-disciplinary team and junior nursing teams in caring forpeople of all ages who are living with neurological and long-term conditions,including those living with physical disabilities and recovering from traumaticinjuries, and providing a high level of personal and rehabilitative care.
You will contribute to theleadership of the department, working closely with the Head of Department andthere will be opportunities to develop your leadership skills.
It can be very physical workingwith people with limited mobility,
providing personal care and althoughchallenging, it is highly rewarding.
Youll be supported by a team ofcolleagues ready to lend a hand and work together to a common twodays are the same, with plenty to keep you engaged and motivated, but also agood amount of routine.
Youll join our teams thatsupport people who have complex rehabilitation needs such as tracheostomies / ventilated / peg feeds and who have extensive and long-term rehabilitationgoals.
In some cases, peoples mobility and speech can be affected and we workclosely with a range of other services including wheelchair, speech andalternative communication aid providers.

The Dean Neurological Centre has60 beds in Gloucester (GL2 9EE), which is on the outskirts of the town withineasy commute from Gloucester,
Cheltenham with good transport links.
The Centre delivers specialist24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-termneurological conditions who require ongoing support and assistance to maximisefunctional ability.
It specialises in slow streamrehabilitation where the emphasis is placed on maximising each individual'sabilities, comfort and quality of life.
Bedrooms are fitted with highdependency equipment, including ceiling track hoists, wall mounted suction andoxygen equipment.
with all rooms adapted to individual requirements. There arealso well-equipped therapy facilities and other facilities such as gardens, gymand minibus.
