BANK Speech & Language Therapist - Stammering Specialist Band 6 or 7
Band 6 - £42,939 - £58,544 Inc HCAS per annum pro rata
Band 7 - £51,883 - £58,544 Inc HCAS per annum pro rata
An opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our community team in Bromley on a Bank basis.
This post is ideal for a stammering specialist therapist who would like to work flexibly 1-2 days per week on an ad hoc basis to independently manage a small stammering caseload.
We are ideally seeking a therapists who will be able to provide some face to face appointments however will consider applications from remote candidates.
We pride ourselves in being one of the few NHS services in London providing assessment and treatment for adults who stammer and are passionate about maintaining this provision.
Main duties of the job
Postgraduate training and experience in dysfluency is a requirement of this post. Your role will extend beyond clinical duties, encompassing active participation in service development and supporting our staff as required.
This post has been advertised as B7 however we will consider B6 candidates. Banding will be dependent on level of experience so please contact the department directly if you would like any clarification or to find out more about this post.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent.
- Health Professions Council Licence to practice.
- Completed RCSLT Newly qualified SLT competencies
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable
Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
Specific Skills
Essential
- Able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the management of adults who stammer
- To be competent in handling the emotional and psychosocial aspects of working with a complex SLT caseload in the community
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of variety of assessment and treatment methods for adults who stammer
- Demonstrates ability to be a good team member and assume leadership responsibilities when required by line manager
- Knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to the specialist patient group
- Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions for stammering and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits.
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance.
- Understanding of the roles of other professionals relevant to the patient group
Experience

- Experience working clinically as an SLT with adults who stammer
- Evidence of independent caseload management.
- Experience of working with other professionals relevant to patient groups.
